A system for the personal production of cigarettes by the consumer is described, which is free of disadvantages of manual rolling or filling by means of the known filling machines and permits, in a simple manner requiring no manual dexterity, the problem-free production of high-quality cigarettes without any item of equipment. This system comprises a prefabricated wrapped tobacco rod consisting of a rod sleeve which is open at the end faces and a rod-shaped tobacco filling which can be transferred into a cigarette paper wrapper by means of a supplied plunger. The production of the cigarette by the consumer takes place in a simple manner in that the wrapped tobacco rod is introduced into a prefabricated cigarette wrapper of a known type, or is a cigarette paper of the type used for hand-rolling with gummed around it, and the rod-shaped tobacco filling is then transferred from the wrapping which is open at its end faces, with the aid of the plunger introduced into the rod wrapping, from the rod wrapping by ejection therefrom into the cigarette wrapper or into the wrapper produced by the gumming of cigarette paper. <IMAGE>
