The control procedures in the dial-up PBX system are performed in conjunction with a control processor unit which has access to memory arrangements containing the required information. If a system of this type is used as a satellite PBX system, the line leading to the remote system is to be earthed for exchange line seizure via the remote system (e.g. primary system), for an enquiry call to be performed in the primary system in the case of incoming and outgoing exchange traffic, and for call transfer. This is achieved in that a specific code digit or code digit combinations are to be keyed in by the subscriber within the satellite PBX system in the enquiry call condition which is initiated by pressing a signal key. This is evaluated by the control processor unit with the result that the line leading to the distant system is automatically connected to earth potential for a specified time. This then corresponds, in relation to the distant system, to the information which can be obtained by pressing the earth key in said remote system. As a result, the aforementioned switching procedures are initiated, depending on the connection condition. The code digit to be evaluated in simple fashion by the control processor unit replaces the earth key actuation which would normally also need to be evaluated in terms of its time duration.
