In order to improve the sealing between the static and the moving part in the case of a slide valve-controlled four-stroke combustion engine with fixed slide valve housing with inlet and outlet slots and a rotating cylinder housing, a similarly rotating, axially movable sealing ring is used which does not lift off from the sealing surface under compression and working pressure.
