The object of the invention is to sink recesses having a large ratio of depth to diameter (deep bores) in ceramic bodies. Application fields: inter alia, precision machine building, optical technology, writing and drawing equipment technology, for example ceramic bodies for pressure-clamping plates and the like. Sinking deep bores into finished ceramic bodies is problematic because of the high hardness. The solution comprises using a needle-like tool (7) of a hard material and having a diameter between approximately 0.1 mm and approximately 5 mm to sink at least one deep bore (6) into a ceramic body (a") which is in a deformable state, the depth of the bore being, in particular, between approximately 3 mm and approximately 50 mm. <IMAGE>
