PURPOSE:To obtain accurate data in a reproduction mode regardless of an attachment shift or a track shift by unifying a record/reproduction main magnetic pole and an erasion magnetic pole on the surface opposite to a magnetic recording medium via a nonmagnetic guard member. CONSTITUTION:A record/reproduction main magnetic pole 10 set opposite to a magnetic recording medium 11 is held between a magnetic core 13a and nonmagnetic core 13b and joined to nonmagnetic guard members 12a and 12b. Then erasion main magnetic poles 18a and 18b are provided at the downstream side of the pole 10 with a space smaller than the width of the pole 10. When the information is recorded in the medium 11, the record signal is supplied to the pole 10 to perform the vertical magnetic record. At the same time, an erasion current is supplied to the erasion main magnetic pole 18 to erase both sides of a recording track. Therefore no unerased previous data remains in a rewriting mode although some shift is caused with attachment of the medium 11 or a track shift due to a temperature change. Thus it is possible to obtain the accurate data in a reproduction mode. |
