PURPOSE:To set an accurate position for control signals on a tape by dividing properly the frequency obtained in response to the revolving speed of a capstan motor. CONSTITUTION:The control signal which is recorded by a control head 10 is obtained by dividing properly the output of an oscillator 4 which generates a frequency corresponding to the revolving speed of a capstan motor 3 by a counter 17. A video track applies a part of the information of the counter 17 to a video position control element which has a displacement in response to the level of an electric signal via a D/A converter 18. Therefore the variance amount of a tape is applied to the video head position control element as the output of the converter 18 although tape traveling is stopped owing to the variance of the tape feed amount. Thus it is possible to always control a video head to its optimum position.
