The technical problem posed consists in eliminating any spraying of water on the sides of the vehicle in the event of rain. According to the invention, the problem is resolved by this device being composed of at least one side flap (14, 15) fixed to the longitudinal edge of the chassis (4) or of the bodywork (15), parallel to the direction in which the vehicle moves, and of a deflecting wall (16) to which the flap (14) is joined and which is arranged in a plane substantially perpendicular to the said direction in which the vehicle moves.
