PURPOSE:To manufacture inexpensively molten quartz fine powder of high purity by combining pulverization by a pulverizer and classification by an air-separator to treat lumps of molten quartz. CONSTITUTION:Lumps of molten quartz are pulverized by a pulverizer (ball mill, vibration mill or the like; wet pulverization and >=2 stages are preferable) and the obtd. powder is classified by an air-separator to obtain fine powder having <=1mu average grain diameter. The obtd. fine powder has round shape with no acute angle, and packing degree for resins is high and moreover the purity (>= about 99.7%) is very high.
