PURPOSE:To obtain glass for coating a semiconductor with superior blocking characteristics suitable for use in the manufacture of a molded semiconductor by adding at least one among CaO, MgO and BaO to ZnO-B2O3-SiO2-PbO glass. CONSTITUTION:This glass for coating a semiconductor contains, by weight, 35-55% ZnO, 10-30% B2O3, 5-10% SiO2 and 15-40% PbO as principal components, at least one among 0.1-7% CaO, 0.1-8% MgO and O.1-10% BaO, and 0-5% SnO2 and/or 0-5% Bi2O3. 0-3% Al2O3, 0-5% MnO2, 0-3% Sb2O3 and 0-3% As2O3 may be contained furthermore. When the glass is used, it is preferably mixed with lead titanate powder, quartz glass powder, zirconium powder or the like as a filler.
