PRODUCTION OF LEAD ALLOY BY CONTINUOUS ROLLING

PURPOSE:To produce a product having uniform quality and stable performance at high efficiency by specifying the ratio between the max. effective width of a plate to be produced and the width of a tapping port of a nozzle. CONSTITUTION:A molten lead alloy is charged into the space 3 between a pair of rolls 2 and 2' and is cooled by the outside circumferential surfaces 2a, 2a' of the rolls. The solidified phase formed by the cooling is continuously rolled to produce a rod or plate. When (l) and (t) are designated as the max. effective width and thickness of the rod or strip to be produced in such a case and L, T are designated as the width and height of a tapping port 4a of the nozzle, l/L is set at 2-60 at 2-30 value of T/t. The rod or plate of the lead or lead alloy having a desired size and shape and good appearance is obtd. at a high yield with uniform quality and high efficiency.
