PURPOSE:To weld completely overlapped sections thereby joining them, by jetting temperature-controlled heated air to the overlapped sections of a thermoplastic resin sheet wound helically on a rotating mandrel thereby welding the overlapped sections. CONSTITUTION:A long piece (C) of a thermoplastic resin sheet is wound on the rotating mandrel (B) with the longitudinal peripheries of the piece (C) being overlapped slightly, while a mount block 32 of nozzle apparatuses 12 attached to a rotating shaft 26 of a servo-motor 24 is moved along the edge of the sheet (C). Heated air is jetted from the tips 16 of nozzles 14 having heaters 22 via piston rods 44 of cylinder apparatuses 42 attached to a support plate 40 fixed to the block 32. At the same time, the surface temperature of the sheet (C) is detected by a first temperature sensor 60 positioned adjacent to the mandrel (B) and the nozzle apparatuses 12, and the temperature of the heated air is detected by second temperature sensors 62 attached in the nozzles 14 and located adjacent to the tips 16, thereby controlling the operation of the heaters 22, the servo-motor 24 or the cylinder apparatuses 42. |
