PURPOSE:To decrease the erosion in the semicircular shape of bricks for a vessel for a molten metal and to extend the life of a lining by intersecting stepwise the joint surfaces in a vertical direction (thickness direction of the lining) and the joint surfaces in a horizontal direction (the direction along the plane of the lining). CONSTITUTION:The joint surfaces of bricks 1, 1', 2, 2', 3, 3' having stepwise joint surfaces are joined to each other by means of joints 4. The figure (a) shows the case in which the step where the vertical and horizontal joint surfaces intersect is one, the figure (b) shows the case in which said step is two and the figure (c) shows the state under progression of erosion during the use of a vessel. If a lining is assembled of these bricks 1, 1', 2, 2', 3, 3', the joints 4 in the vertical direction are interrupted stepwise by the joint surfaces in the horizontal direction and are not penetrated in one line as apparent from the figures (a), (b). The joints 4 of the joint Surfaces in the horizontal directions are harder to be eroded than those in the vertical direction. Even if the joints 4 in the vertical direction of the lining by such bricks are eroded as shown in the figure (c), the erosion do not penetrate deep in the bricks and the so-called semicircular shaped erosion is decreased. |
