PURPOSE:To maintain the height of printed characters constant by a device wherein an ink particle charging signal voltage is controlled based on ambient temperature detection data, correcting characteristic data corresponding to ink viscosity characteristics, character height instructing data and printed character pattern data. CONSTITUTION:Ambient temperature data sensed by a temperature sensor 21 and A/D converted at 22, correcting characteristic data on the character height preset in a non-volatile memory 25 for respective temperatures, and character height instructing data in a panel input section 26 are arithmetically processed in a main controller 24 to store charging signal data in a volatile memory 28. Based on character pattern data and charging signal data stored in the memories 25, 28, respectively, a printing signal synthesis unit 29 produces charging signal voltage waveform data, thereby obtaining charging signal voltage having the waveform as shown through a D/A converter 30 and an amplifier 31 and then applying the voltage to a charging electrode 32. By doing so, it becomes possible to maintain constant the height of printed characters in accordance with viscosity characteristics of ink used and ambient temperatures. |
