PURPOSE:To uniformly heat and expand a reinforcing band and obtain a CRT with excellent quality and an explosion-proof structure by alternately feeding a current through fitting metals located diagonally to heat the reinforcing band suspended around a side wall section of a face plate by shrinkage fitting. CONSTITUTION:The current generated in the secondary winding 37a of a transformer 37 has an AC waveform; during a positive half-wave, a current flows through a rectifier 354, a support structure 344, a steel band, a support structure 341, and a rectifier 351; during a negative half-wave, a current flows through a rectifier 352, a support structure 342, the steel band 26, a support structure 343, and a rectifier 353; thus the steel band 26 of a reinforcing band 27 is heated by the alternating feeding of a current between diagonally located fitting metals, and the reinforcing band 27 is extremely uniformly heated and expanded. Next, a CRT face plate side wall section wound with a tape is inserted into the steel band 16 of the reinforcing band 27, and when the current feed is stopped, the heat-expanded steel band shrinks and tightens the face plate side wall section with a predetermined tensile force. |
