TRACKING DEVICE OF FRONT TIP POSITION OF STRIP IN COILER

PURPOSE:To perform tracking highly accurately by detecting with the 1st detector that a strip is taken in by pinch rolls and detecting with the 2nd detector that the strip passes a prescribed position locating at the downstream of the pinch rolls. CONSTITUTION:The starting time of tracking the front tip position of a strip 1 is decided by detecting the time of taking in the strip 1 with the aid of the 1st detecting means (an accelerometer) 7, and whether this detection is correct or not is ascertained at the time of detecting it with the aid of the 2nd detector (a laser-type detector) 10. When the detection is not correct, the detecting time by the detector 10 is used as the starting time of tracking. Accordingly the mistake of tracking the front tip position of the strip 1, caused by a detection error at the starting time of tracking, is perfectly eliminated.
