摘要 <p>PURPOSE:To measure the quantity of electromagnetism with a high sensitivity in a small-sized constitution by coating a bar-shaped core consisting of magnetooptic materials with a clad having a refractive index lower than hat of the core and flowing a current corresponding to a measured quantity of electromagnetism to a coil-shaped electrode provided on the outside of this clad and detecting the intensity of light propagated through the core. CONSTITUTION:The light emitted from a light source is converted to a linearly polarized light by a polarizer 31 and is transmitted by a constant polarization optical fiber cord 30 consisting of the bar-shaped core consisting of magnetooptic materials and the clad having a refractive index lower than that of this core. Coil-shaped electrodes 41 and 71 surrounding the optical fiber code 30 are excited by a measuring current, and the plane of polarization of the propagated light is rotated in proportion to the intensity of the magnetic field, and the intensity of light passing through a polarizer 32 is changed. The current is measured with a high precision in accordance with the intensity of the light. Since a bar-shaped fiber cord 33 is used, the device is made small in size.</p>
