The unit comprises a mixture of the following composition mixed in that sequence: NH4Cl 56.0%, soft white sugar 15.0%, colophony (rosin) 9.5% and KClO3 19.5%. This is hermetically enclosed in tubular plastic e.g. polythene foil e.g. a 1m long 4cm diameter tube (1) arranged zig-zag fashion in a metal container (2) with partitions (3). Ignition is via electric igniter arranged inside one of the tube ends with projecting terminals (4, 5), ignition time being prolonged by inclusion of some gunpowder fuse material.
