PURPOSE:To prevent methanol from dropping to carry out the complete evaporation of methanol thereby the performance of a reformer is enhanced, by providing such an arrangement that exhaust gas passes through an evaporating section prior to a catalytic section so that the evaporation of methanol is completely made by the increased temperature of the evaporating section. CONSTITUTION:The suction side of a fuel pump 12 is communicated with a methanol tank 13, and the discharge side thereof is communicated with the inlet side 14 of a reformer 11 through a first feed pipe 15. Further, the outlet side 16 of the reformer 11 is communicated with the intake side of an engine 10 through a second feed pipe 17, and an exhaust pipe 18 piercing through the reformer 11 is connected to the exhaust side of the engine 10. Further the reformer 11 is provided therein with an evaporating section 19 and a catalytic section 20 arranged along the direction of the stream of exhaust gas 3. With this arrangement exhaust gas passes through the evaporating section 19 prior to the catalytic section 20, and therefore, is made into contact with the catalytic section 20 after methanol contained in the exhaust gas is evaporated in the evaporating section 19. Accordingly, methanol may be completely evaporated by the increased temperature of the evaporating section 19. |
