The invention is related to a method and an apparatus for reclaiming glass fibres from thermosetting synthetic material reinforced with class fibres. To promote the adherence of the glass fibers to said material the glass fibers are processed. The known method is expensive. The invention aims to provide a relatively cheap method by means of which from the waste of thermosetting synthetic material, that is reinforced with fibers, the fibers can be removed in such a manner that the features related to the adherence of the synthetic material substantially are maintained. The invention also aims to provide an apparatus for performing said method. Said apparatus being characterized by a supply path (1) for the waste material, a heating device (3) provided near said path, an abutment means (4) at the end of the path for holding the waste material, a number of openings (5) in the abutment means, a fiber-removing means (7) provided with protruding parts (6) and a drive means (9) to drive said fiber-removing means (7) and thereby moving the protruding parts (6) through the openings (5) of the abutment means (4).
