River-bed depth and contour control - uses baffle plates pivoting on horizontal and-or vertical axis to increase flow rate

The baffles achieve faster flow diversion of river delta water, to eliminate build up of mud or sandbanks. Various methods can be used, based e.g. on floating pontoons and submerged baffle plates. The plates may be pivotal on either a horizontal or vertical spindle, thus increasing e.g. normal or tidal flow. This erodes away sandbank formation. The arrangement may be anchored to the riverbed, and may also be height adjustable, for optimum flow diversion.
