PURPOSE:To prevent a jam by providing foreign matter removing means which is disposed on a paper transport path, rotated forward in the peripheral speed greater than the paper transport speed and provided with a projection formed on the surface thereof, thereby to remove foreign matter from the paper sheets. CONSTITUTION:Plastic impellers 10, 12 disposed on a transport path for paper money 1 are respectively provided with rollers 8, 13. The paper money 1 is clamped by three upper and lower transport belts 21 and transported. Two sets of a roller 8 and an impeller 10 are disposed between the belts 21, and the impeller 10 has eight blades radially arranged. When foreign matter enters a little gap between the roller 8 and the impeller 10, excessive reaction force is produced on a bearing of the impeller 10, so that the roller escapes against the elastic force of a spring 9 to prevent the occurrence of a jam. Since the peripheral speed of the impeller 10 is greater than the transport speed for the paper money 1, the forward end of the impeller 10 is brought into frictional engagement with the lower surface of the paper money 1, thereby to strip foreign matter to be dropped on a catcher 11. |
