PURPOSE:To facilitate operation and to prevent simultaneously misoperation by controlling automatically each element of an optical lighting system to obtain a proper value corresponding to a detected objective. CONSTITUTION:A revolver control part 16 inputs data on the objective 8a to a CPU17, which reads the magnification and numerical aperture of the objective to insert an optimum condenser 6 into an optical path. At the same time, an aperture stop 5 and a field stop 4 are adjusted in size to optimum values. Further, a combination of an ND filter and brightness is set on the basis of the data on the objective according to the state of a sample. Thus, the switching of the condenser lens, adjustment of the stops, and driving of the ND filter are completed during the rotation of a revolver.
