PURPOSE:To produce a polyester block copolymer excellent in rubber elasticity, impact resistance, mechanical properties, etc., by reacting an aromatic polyester with a lactone at a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:A polyester block copolymer is formed by reacting 80-30pts.wt. aromatic polyester in which the content of a terephthalic acid component (polyethylene terephthalate, polytetramethylene terephthalate, etc.) is 30-79mol% based on the total acid component with 20-70pts.wt. lactone (e.g., epsilon-caprolactone) at 180-260 deg.C. (About 0.001-0.1wt%, based on the total of the aromatic polyester and the lactone, catalyst may be used.) The MW of the above copolymer is preferably about 5,000 or higher when it is used as a molding material.
