PURPOSE:To double the number of stored sheets of recording paper in a paper feeder having a vertically movable receiving plate in a cassette, by pushing up the rear edge of the receiving plate depending on the remaining quantity of the recording paper to always keep the surface of the paper almost horizontal. CONSTITUTION:A pressure contact mechanism 14 having a pressure contact lever 142. which is urged upward by a spring force, is provided at the front edge of a receiving plate 12 vertically movably housed in a cassette 11 and is located under a send-out roller 13 so that the front edge of recording paper 6' on the receiving plate can be brought into appropriate-pressure contact with the send- out roller. A mechanism 16 for pushing up the rear edge of the receiving plate 12 along with the consumption of the recording paper 6' is provided at the rear edge of the receiving plate. The push-up mechanism 16 comprises a motor 303, which is driven when a micro-switch 15 for detecting the housed state of the recording paper 6' in the cassette 11, and an L-shaped lever 161, which is swung by the turning force of the motor through a drive mechanism 162. |
