<p>A vaccine, useful for protecting swine against transmissible gastroenteritis (TGE) infection, contains an antigen factor, sp. antigenic protein(SPA), which is at least partially lost in the recovery of TGE virus for use in vaccines. SPA is sol. in H20, has a buoyant d. of 1.02-1.03g/mL, and has a charge-neutralized electrophoretic mobility (Rf) of 1.84 relative to human serum albumin. It is admixed with a carrier or adjuvant suitable for veterinary adminstration. The SPA immmunogen is prepd. from TGE virus in a culture medium, subjected to centrifugation, the virus pptd. from the supernatant, the ppt. collected by centrifugation and dispersed in Eaglis min. essential medium, and the dispersion is subjected to rate-zonal centrifugation.</p> |
