The furnace(1) incinerates combustible material and generates hot gas. It comprises a lower chamer(3) with an inlet(12) for air and an inlet(13) for combustible material, and an upper chamber(2), which has an inlet(10) for air and a stack(5). The chambers communicate with each other inside the furnace. Air and combustible material are blown into the lower chamber(3) of the furnace in a direction tangential to the wall of the lower chamber(3), and into the upper chamber(2) of the furnace in a direction tangential to the wall of the upper chamber, thus generating hot gas in the upper chamber.
