Edge seal for dewatering machine screens

The double band dewatering machine used for extracting water from suspensions by pressure has a suspension inlet part (5) by which the material enters the wedge part (1) of the machine. On this wedge part of the length (A) the distance between the two screens (6) decreases steadily, producing increased pressure by the two roller-supported screens acting on the material between and forcing out the water from the solid fraction of the suspension. To prevent spreading and running out of un-dewatered material along the edges, the gap in the wedge section is closed up at the edges by an elastic strip of U-cross section. The edges of the U-shape rest with pressure against the opposing surfaces of the screens. The width of the strips follow the decreasing shape of the wedge section.
