PURPOSE:To facilitate the automatic measurement of the transmitting characteristics of a transmission line while simply taking synchronism, by placing an oscillator and a selection level meter to one terminal station. CONSTITUTION:A signal having frequency F1 is inputted to the transmitting terminal SIN of a terminal station TA. The receiving signal from the terminal station TA is inputted to the transmitting terminal of a terminal station TB at a constant level by the action of the stabilizer STB used in the terminal station TB. The signal having frequency f1 is measured at the receiving terminal (ROUT) of the terminal station TA by a selection level meter SLM and, when this level is set to La, Lb-La comes to transmitting characteristics to the frequency f1 of a transmission line D and, therefore, transmitting characteristics to each frequency can be measured by successively changing the frequency f1.
