The subject of the invention relates to a tool holder which can be fitted to hammer drill appliances. It consists in mounting, on the chuck 6 of a hammer drill appliance, a tool holder 3 with a rotary drive shaft 1 contacting, by means of a ball 9 mounted freely in the centring cavity 8 of a carrying plate 7 undergoing and absorbing the rotary effect, but only transmitting to the receiving shaft 2 securely fastened to the centring plate 11 of the ball 9 the percussion and vibrations, this shaft 2 itself being securely fastened to a tool holder 13. It is intended to be fitted in particular to hammer drills in order to eliminate the rotational transmission and only use the percussion or vibration effect for the receiving tool. Appliances such as hand drills transmit a rotary movement of variable speed to the bore bits and with percussion transmission give the tool increased efficiency. <IMAGE>
