Injection mouldings with recesses are produced by using mould plungers which are in the basic position when the tool is open and are flush with the contours in the mould. They remain in this position when the tool is closed and the mould contours are filled but immediately after the completion of the filling, the plungers enter the mould cavity and displace the melt. When the solidification phase has ended, the plungers can return or they return after the moulding has been ejected.
