Apparatus (2) for holding a slider (3) in position during threading onto a slide fastener chain, comprising an elongate support (28) vertically slidable between an upper and a lower position and having a longitudinal slit (31) for receiving the pull tab (33) hanging from the slider body (32), a first spring (34) normally urging the support to said upper position, a lever (29) having a locking projection (29a) and being pivotable between a slider-holding position in which said projection (29a) projects into said slit (31) for engagement with the pull tab (33), and a slider-release position in which said projection (29a) is retracted out of said slit (31) and a second spring (39) lever (28) for normally urging the latter to said slider-release position. The apparatus (2) includes means (42) for detecting when support (28) as manually pressed downwardly against the bias of said first spring (34), arrives at said lower position, and means (40), responsive to detection of the arrival of said support (28) by said detecting means (42) for driving said lever (29) from said slider-release position to said slider-release position against the bias of said second spring (39). |
