The pressure supply system for vehicles has a steering gear (1) connected to a pump (3) and to a reservoir (4). Between the steering gear (1) and the pump (3) is a magnetic 4/2 valve (6) in which in the first position pressure passes unhindered to the steering gear (1). In the second position, supply is throttled to the steering gear. The pump is connected to the control chamber (7) of a pressure converter (8) connected to the brake booster (13) which is served also by a reservoir (13). The pressure converter has a stepped piston which provides an increase in pressure.
