A first memory (1) stores the image data, which are divided by several further memories into several partial image data and stored in them. A selector (6) picks-up one of the second memories, from which the partial image data are to be recalled by a read-out device (7). Pref. the further memories are shift registers from which the data are recalled sequentially by shift pulses. The shift registers may convert the parallel, read-out data from the first memory into serial image data. The selector may comprise a switching member for sequential read-out. The first memory data may be divided into uneven and even image data for separate storage. Such data memories may be alternately selected and read from appropriate memories.
