Process and device for continuous manufacture of profile sections in the surface of a soft, easily deformable material (1) according to the principle of extruding the parts to be processed of the material (1) through the openings (3) of an endless, circulating cutting mask (2), the material (1) being guided between the cutting mask (2) and a transport and pressure body (4) whilst simultaneously being continuously compressed and continuously transported in its longitudinal direction. In the process the parts to be removed of the material (1) are cut off by a cutting tool (5) disposed on the inner or outer side of the cutting mask (2) and acting mechanically or thermally transversely to the direction of feed of the material (1), which cutting tool can be designed as a ribbon blade, ribbon saw, circular knife, hot wire, laser beam etc. The profile in the material (1) remains as a concave, negative shape (hollow shape). Application of the process to rubber, elastomers, flexible foams. <IMAGE>
