PURPOSE:To ensure the laser welding at the fitted-in edge between the cell case and the cell lid if there is some dimensional error or deformation in the cell case, by giving a rotation to the cell while the same is held by three rollers. CONSTITUTION:A cell 1 with a cell case 1a and a cell lid 1b fitted in the top of the cell case 1a is held by the three rollers 2, 3, 4, and the cell 1 is rotated by the guide rollers 2, 3 driven by a motor or the like. A lase beam 5 is irradiated on the fitted-in edge 1c between the cell case 1a and the cell lid 1b at the position where the external periphery of the cell 1 is in contact with one of the guide rollers 2. The irradiation is continued for the period of time in which the cell 1 makes a little more than one rotation (about 1.1 rotations) and thereby the sealing of the cell case 1a with the cell lid 1b is completed. By this apparatus, the laser beam 5 is always steadily irradiated on the fitted-in edge between the cell case 1a and the cell lid 1b if there is some deformation or dimensional error in the external size of the cell case 1a. |
