A device according to the invention has a supporting pipe on which are provided at least one oil feed device and at least one oil removal device at a certain distance from one another. The supporting pipe has at least one injection opening at a point corresponding to each oil feed device. The injection opening is tangential to the internal circumference of the supporting pipe and runs in the direction of rotation of a bar or rod to be inserted into the supporting pipe. In this way the bar or rod can be supported in a vibration-free manner by means of the device.
