PURPOSE:To shorten an operation time even when the output value of a metering machine is hard to stabilize by finding the best combination at specific timing after an article is thrown in, and operating the best combination again at the next timing where the output value becomes stable. CONSTITUTION:A processor 104a when detecting the generation of a start signal STS outputs a weight value read signal WRS to a multiplexer 102 at the 1st timing. Weight values Wi are inputted to an AD converter 103 successively and the obtained weight values Wi are stored in a data memory 104b. The processor sums up weight values as to 2<n-1> kinds of combinational pattern and discriminates on whether the combination total value X is within a specific range or not. The weight value read signal WRS is outputted again to the multiplexer 102 at the 2nd timing to read weight values Wi', which are stored in the data memory 104b. Then, weight values Wi' in the best combination pattern are summed up, and the discrimination on whether the total weight value X' is within the specific range or not is made.
