PURPOSE:To improve sensitivity and repetitive durability by providing a photosensitive layer having an electric charge generating layer contg. a specific bisazo pigment and an electric charge transfer layer contg. a specific hydrazone compd. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive layer has an electric charge generating layer contg. the bisazo pigment expressed by the formula I and an electric charge transfer layer contg. the hydrazone compd. expressed by the formula II. Said photosensitive layer is constituted by coating the charge generating layer incorporated therein with said bisazo pigment on a base and laminating the charge transfer layer thereon. The photosensitive body of such type may be formed by providing an intermediate layer on the base and providing successively the charge generating layer and the charge transfer layer thereon or may be made into the laminated construction consisting of the charge generating layer provided on the charge transfer layer. A suitable surface protective layer may be formed on said layer in the latter case. Such photosensitive body has extremely good sensitivity and even if the photosensitive body is subjected repeatedly to electrostatic charging and exposing many times, there are no increase in the potential of the bright part and decrease in the potential of the dark part. The photosensitive body is thus used for not only a copying machine but a laser printer and photoengraving system as well.
