PURPOSE:To omit mode switch operation for setting an input mode in a composite work station by composing an input device of a code converting means, a code deciding means and a selecting means. CONSTITUTION:Various data inputted from a keyboard A are code-converted by a code conversion table specified by the code converting means B storing plural code conversion tables. The code data outputted from the code conversion means B are decided to be valid or invarid by the code deciding means C, and in case of valid code data, transferred to the selecting means D. If the code data are invalid, a buzzer E is sounded to inform the fact to the operator. The selecting means D specifies a code conversion table and a code deciding table on the basis of a file name of a program inputted from the keyboard A. Thus, the input mode can be set up only by inputting the file name of the program.
