The invention relates to an aerodynamically shaped structural tube with a droplet-shaped cross-section, especially for tubes of hang-gliders and ultra-light aircraft, which tubes are located in the vicinity of the pilot. In order to be able to hold the tubes in the hands well and, simultaneously, to prevent the risk of injury, it is proposed according to the invention to construct at least the rear edge (3) of the droplet-shaped profile from elastic, cushioned material, preferably from soft rubber. The structural tube consists, for example, of an elliptical aluminium supporting tube (2) having a bonded-on, wedge-shaped, elastic soft-rubber strip (3) or of a round supporting tube (2') which is sheathed with a coating (3') which is droplet-shaped in profile and consists of soft rubber. <IMAGE>
