This method serves to install tubs, in particular bathtubs, in place of a tub having a lining of masonry and tiles in the area of one and/or the other of its side walls, in which method the old tub is split up before the new tub is inserted. This method provides for at least the boundary of the old tub to be left behind and for at least such a large area of the old tub to be removed from the original position so that space is created for the new tub, which is set down on the remaining boundary of the old tub and is connected to it. In this method, therefore, the wall areas finished with tiling remain, so that removal of the mortar secured to the wall boundary, during which tile damage is unavoidable, is not necessary.
