PURPOSE:To display the unit cost of a commodity on the basis of a request from a customer before the registration of the commodity in accordance with the operation of a commodity relating code input key and a commodity unit cost display command means in an electronic cash register. CONSTITUTION:When a unit cost display key 152 formed in function keys 15 on a keyboard of a data input means 1 of the electronic cash register (ECR) is depressed, a commodity code, 0010 e.g., is inputted through ten keys 13 and a PLU (price look up) key 151 is depressed, the unit cost amount information of the commodity corresponding to the commodity code is taken out from a unit cost area 321 in a PLU control table 32 and displayed on a display means. When the customer assents to the displayed contents, the information is registered by depressing a registration key 154, and if the customer does not require the registration of the commodity, a cancel key 153 may be depressed.
