<p>In a method for monitoring a gravity infusion or transfusion, the rate of the initial sequence of droplets is digitally recorded, stored and displayed during a first time interval by means of an electro-optical counter. Thereafter, the digital value of the stored droplet rate is automatically compared with the digital value of the droplet rate during at least one later time interval. If the drop rates do not exceed predeterminable tolerance thresholds at least during two consecutive time intervals, the constant predetermined drop rate is electronically stored and/or displayed as a threshold rate. A difference between the drop rates automatically and continuously recorded by the counter throughout the infusion process and the constant predetermined and stored threshold rate causes the generation of an alarm signal by the counter. </p> |
