A door or window element for constructions with a roller shutter which is assigned to the door or the window, guided in lateral profiles and can be wound up and which is fastened towards the end on a winding shaft in the interior of a roller shutter box which can be opened from the bottom and is closed by a roller shutter box cover, is to be improved in such a manner that the heat insulation is increased. To this end, the box space (7) of the roller shutter box (4) is formed by at least one insulating element (5) and provided with a lower box opening (19) which is positioned in front of the outer surface of the window or of the door (20) and is closed by the roller shutter box cover or insert board (26) adjacent to the window or door outer surface. In this connection, the box opening (19) is to be arranged between the outer surface of window or door (20) and the guide profile (14) for the roller shutter (10). <IMAGE>
