A vehicle transmission has a plurality of epicyclic gear trains (1, 2, 3) for providing a set of forward drive ratios between a normal forward drive member (13) and an output member (12). To provide a corresponding set of drive ratios, engageable by means of the same friction elements (B1,...B3) between a supplementary input member (33), a supplementary epicyclic gear train (S) has its sungear (SS) connected (through a clutch CS) to the supplementary input member (33) and its other two rotary members (LS and RS) connected to the corresponding elements (L1 and R1) of the normal train (1) nearest the output end of the transmission. |
