The invention relates to a hydrocarbon conversion process having a high selectivity for dehydrocyclisation. According to a feature of the invention, a hydrocarbon batch is subjected to hydrotreating, whereupon the hydrocarbon batch is passed through a sulphur removal system which reduces the sulphur concentration of the hydrocarbon batch to a value below 500 ppb, whereupon the hydrocarbon batch is reformed over a dehydrocyclisation catalyst which is composed of a large-pored zeolite which contains at least one metal of group VIII, aromatic compounds and hydrogen being formed.
