Mechanism with a rack and pinion or friction bar and friction wheel

The mechanism has two racks or friction bars which are arranged coaxially to one another and can be displaced relative to one another. The first rack or friction bar is in operative connection with a first pinion or friction wheel and the second rack or friction bar is in operative connection with a second pinion or friction wheel. The two wheels are arranged on a common axle mounted in a wheel carrier and are connected rotationally to one another. The first wheel and the second wheel have different diameters and, in the case of pinions, a different number of teeth. When one wheel rolls along one rack or bar, the other rack or bar is displaced relative to the first one due to the differing diameters and, in the case of pinions, due to the different numbers of teeth of the two pinions. Depending on which of the two wheels has the larger diameter and, in the case of pinions, the larger number of teeth, an increase or a reduction of a path, a force or a speed or, alternatively, a reversal of the direction of motion of the displaceable rack or bar can be achieved.
