Plant for separating the liquid portion from the solid portion of a finely dispersed liquid system, for example a ceramic slime, by means of a driven screw (12) housed into a cylindrical casing (14) and surrounded by a filtering element (13), of a slime conduit arranged at one end of the casing and of a narrow outlet for the solid material arranged in the screw axis at the other end of the casing. The filtering element (13) is mounted in a massive envelope forming the cylindrical casing (14) wherein it is prevented from rotating (at 21); said envelope is provided, on its surface turned towards the filtering element (13), with a plurality of spaced apart peripheral grooves (15) which open in a filtrate conduit (5). The upper surface of the filtering element (13) which is turn towards the screw (12) is covered with a grid (17) having sufficiently wide mesh and resisting to abrasion so that a helical flat channel is formed wherein, due to the relative motion between the screw and the screw cylinder, the slime circulates so rapidly that the liquid concentration above the cross-section area of the helical channel remains approximately constant and that the liquid slime can not be entrained by the screw core to the press outlet opening. |
