PURPOSE:To enable uniform heat-generation of an entire heater member, by a method wherein a part, with which the end face of the forward end of a support member is covered, is formed with a material having a specific resistance higher than that of other part. CONSTITUTION:In the glow plug of an internal combustion engine, a rodform support member 1 made of an insulating ceramic has its forward end formed in a projection, and a heater member 2 of a V-shaped conductive ceramic is connected in a manner to cover the end face of the forward end part therewith. The sintered substance of the mixture of alumina and silicone nitride is used as the insulating ceramic, and the sintered substance of the mixture of disilicified molybdenum and silicone nitride is used as the conductive ceramic. The heater member 2 is formed such that a part 2b covering the end face of the forward end of the supporting member is different in the mixture ratio of a mixture from other part 2a. This permits provision of a glow plug which has a heater member that generates heat entirely uniformly, and can efficiently preheat a combustion chamber. |
