PURPOSE:To provide an alloy tool steel having wear resistance, strength and toughness and having excellent hardenability by specifying the compsn. consisting of C, Si, Mn, Cr, Mo, W, V and Fe, etc. CONSTITUTION:The alloy tool steel consists of 0.5-0.9% C, 0.6-2.0% Si, <=1.0% Mn, 6.0-8.0% Cr, 2.0-3.5% Mo, <=1.0% W, 0.5-1.0% V, and the balance Fe and impurities. Said steel has high hardening and tempering hardness, fine carbide and high matrix strength, has excellent mechanical properties and toughness against impact and is suitable for wear- and impact-resistant applications. The C among the above-mentioned component elements maintains the strength and hardness of the matrix and improves wear resistance by forming carbide with Cr, Mo, W and V. The Si contributes to an increase in the resistance to softening by tempering. The Cr solutionizes in the matrix and increases hardenability.
